Dar es Salaam. Tanzania's football giants, Young Africans (Yanga) and Simba SC, are set to start preparations early next month for the next season’s Tanzania Mainland Premier League and international competitions.

Also, on the list are Dar es Salaam- based Azam FC and Coastal Union of Tanga, who will start preparations on July 1 for the Council for East and Central African Club Championship (Kagame Cup) slated for July 10.

Speaking to The Citizen yesterday, Simba’s Information and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally, said all the players are required to report tomorrow for medical check-ups and a trip to Ismailia in Egypt.

Ally said the players have been informed and some are in Dar es Salaam ahead of the camp.

“All the players remaining in the team, and new recruits are supposed to report and get ready for medical check-ups and travel preparations.

“Even members of the technical bench staff will be in Dar es Salaam before the end of this week, ready for the trip,” said Ally. Simba are said to have recruited a number of players ahead of the next league season.

Some of the players are Zambian Joshua Mutale from Power Dynamos of Zambia, Congolese Debora Fernades from Mutondo Stars of Zambia, Ugandan Steven Mukwala, who played for Ghana’s Asante Kotoko last season.

There are also DR Congo’s attacking midfielder Elie Mpanzu Kibisawala from AS Vita and Nigerian midfielder Augustine Okejepha, who played for Rivers United of Nigeria.

Yanga players are expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam on July 1, ready for the next league season. The Jangwani Street giants are reported to have recruited former Simba attacking midfielder Clatous Chama, who is expected to be in Dar es Salaam tomorrow.

Also, on the list are FC Lupopo’s left-back Chadrack Boka and former Singida Big Stars (now Singida Black Star) goalkeeper Khomein Aboubakari. There are also Zimbabwean Prince Dube from Azam FC and Ugandan midfielder Hassan Ssenyonjo from Wakiso Giants of Uganda.

Basically, Yanga are yet to say where the team will camp for pre-season despite reports that they will feature in a special tournament in Kenya. Yanga are also in plan to play against APR in Kigali, Rwanda, and later face Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa.

They are also said to have plan to pitch camp in Turkey or Russia, depending on further confirmation.
